As of April 2026, Philippine passport processing now takes 10–15 working days due to supply chain issues affecting passport materials. If you’re planning to travel soon, renewing early is essential — a delayed passport can mean a missed flight or a denied boarding.

Why Passport Renewal Matters

Without a valid passport, international travel and legal stays abroad aren’t possible. A current passport means fewer airport delays, smoother check-ins, and easier visa processing. For digital nomads, it’s the single most critical travel document. Most countries also require at least six months of remaining validity at the time of entry.

Basic Requirements for Simple Adult Renewal

  • Confirmed online appointment (printed appointment packet sent via email)
  • Completed application form from the DFA online portal
  • Current e-passport — original plus a photocopy of the data page
  • Personal appearance for biometrics and photo capture

Note: A PSA birth certificate is no longer required for simple renewals. It is only needed for old passports or name changes.

Additional Requirements (When Needed)

  • PSA marriage certificate or report of marriage — for a name change
  • PSA death certificate of spouse, or PSA marriage certificate annotated with annulment or divorce — for reverting to maiden name
  • Identification certificate, oath of allegiance, or order of approval — for dual citizens
  • Notarized affidavit of loss, explanation, and police report — for a lost or still-valid damaged passport

Step 1: Book Your DFA Appointment Online

Visit the official DFA website to select your preferred appointment date. Slots open randomly, so checking early in the morning or late at night tends to yield better availability.

Walk-in applicants (Courtesy Lane) are accepted for:

  • Senior citizens (with one companion)
  • Pregnant applicants (with proof if required)
  • Persons with disability (PWD)
  • Minor applicants aged 7 and below (with adult companion or guardian)
  • OFWs (with OEC or proof of employment abroad)
  • Solo parents (with valid ID)

Step 2: Pay the Passport Fee Online

Payment confirms your appointment.

  • Regular processing: ₱950
  • Expedited processing: ₱1,200

Accepted payment channels: GCash, 7-Eleven, credit or debit card, Bayad Center. Save your payment confirmation.

Step 3: Print Your Appointment Packet

After payment, download and print the appointment packet from your email. Bring it with you on the day of your appointment. Review all documents beforehand to avoid delays at the DFA office.
